Ask Jake: How Long Does the Procedure Take?

In this recurring blog feature, Jake, our patient services representative, addresses frequently asked questions on LASIK and other refractive vision procedures. Have another question? Contact us or ask in the comments below.

How soon after the consultation can I have surgery?
At Durrie Vision we allow a lot of maneuverability within our schedule to accommodate our patients’ busy lives. In fact, if found to be excellent candidates for LASIK, many of our patients schedule the procedure for the day after their initial exam, followed by apost-op appointment the next day. This three-day turnaround works especially well for our out-of-town patients.

How long does the procedure take?
You should plan to be at our surgery center for approximately 90 minutes to allow for check-in, pre-op testing, surgery, and to go over all post-op care. The actual procedure take approximately 10 minutes, though the time under the laser is typically less than 60 seconds.
