At the time of my vision correction (age 20) I was in college and played football. The change I experienced was profound. Scoreboards, jersey numbers, even hand signals that were once practically unreadable, were now in clear focus. Today, as a coach, I need to be able to clearly see formations and player alignments from the sidelines or press box in order to make proper adjustments for our team. Brad Revare Furthermore, as a college student, I do not have to squint to see chalkboards, or become irritated with contacts drying out during late night study sessions. The sharpness of vision is something I never had, even with contacts. I can swim without goggles and rub my eyes with no thoughts of losing a contact.
Since the vision correction at age 21, I do not have to bother with the inconvenience of glasses. That made a difference especially while traveling. Now I do not have to worry about taking my glasses wherever I go, scratching, or breaking them. Also, with my glasses costing between $400 and $500 annually the one time investment of LASIK surgery is a very good alternative to avoid future costs for glasses.
