Durrie Named 2008 Super Doctor by KC Magazine

OVERLAND PARK, Kan (January, 2008) - Daniel S. Durrie, ophthalmolgist and refractive surgeon, has been named "Super Doctor 2008" by KC Magazine. Durrie is the President and Chief Refractive Surgeon of Durrie Vision, located in Overland Park, KS.

To identify Super Doctors, more than 3,200 Kansas City doctors were asked, "If you needed medical care, which doctor would you choose?" KC Magazine says the intent was to identify doctors who are most highly regarded by their peers.

Durrie has performed more than 40,000 LASIK procedures in his career. He and his staff of 34 perform vision correction surgeries to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

As a pioneer in the refractive surgery field, Durrie and Dr. Stephen S. Slade of Houston have developed the next generation of LASIK procedures, called SBK "Sub-Bowmans Keratomileusis." "SBK is similar to LASIK, but is less likely to cause dry eyes or other complications," Durrie said. "We make a thinner, smaller flap with a laser as opposed to a blade, which reduces damage to the corneal fibers that have been associated with dry eye," said Durrie.
