Channel 5 Reporter Anne Peterson has CK

OVERLAND PARK, KS - Finding it difficult to read without a pair of reading glasses, local reporter Anne Peterson decided to try a new procedure to bring her vision back into focus, Conductive Keratoplasty (CK).

CK uses the controlled release of radiofrequency energy, instead of a laser, to reshape the cornea and help patients with farsightedness, a progressive disorder often requiring treatment with glasses around the time a patient turns 40.

Dan Durrie, M.D., performed Anne's procedure. Dr. Durrie is one of only 10 surgeons in the country who performed the clinical trials for CK. "Anne was an ideal candidate for the procedure," he said. "She'd had good vision most of her life until she reached her forties."

In clinical trials, 88 percent of patients rated their quality of vision following CK as moderate, marked to extremely improved. Anne's results were no less impressive. "I was amazed how quickly I could see things better," she remarked. "Within a week, my reading vision improved significantly."
