Dr. Durrie provides free surgery for individuals with physical conditions that prevent them from handling their glasses and contacts without assistance. "I've provided this service informally for a number of years," Dr. Durrie said. "We're now pushing for a larger scale program that I'm hopeful will eventually take the program into cities across the United States and beyond." As part of the program, Dr. Durrie provides pre-operative exams, laser or surgical vision correction, and post-operative exams at no charge for qualified individuals. To qualify, patients must meet the following criteria: 1. Physically unable to handle their glasses and contacts without assistance. 2. Good candidate for laser or surgical vision correction, i.e. healthy eyes, within proper prescription range, age 21 or older.
