Durrie, M.D. Honored by International Organization with Lifetime Achievement AwardOVERLAND PARK, KS (October 27, 2005) – The International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) has bestowed upon Daniel S. Durrie, MD of Durrie Vision in Overland Park, Kan., its coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. This award was established by the ISRS Board of Directors in 1996 to honor an ISRS member who has made significant and internationally recognized contributions to the advancement of refractive surgery over his or her career. It is among the most prestigious forms of recognition an ophthalmologist can receive. Dr. Durrie was recognized at the ISRS Gala Dinner on October 14 during the 2005 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in Chicago. With more than 20 years experience in laser and surgical vision correction (refractive surgery), Dr. Durrie is a pioneer in procedures to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and higher order imperfections of the eye. He has performed more than 40,000 refractive surgery procedures. He and the Durrie Vision research team participate as medical monitor and clinical investigator on numerous clinical research studies of new devices, techniques or treatments each year. He is also very active in training eye surgeons around the world on new, or newly perfected, surgical techniques.
