Durrie Leads Course for LASIK Surgeons
OVERLAND PARK, KS (November, 2007) - Daniel S. Durrie, MD served as senior instructor for a course entitled, “Now That you Have the Tools, How do you get the Best Results?” at the November meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Meeting in New Orleans. The International Society of Refractive Surgery of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (ISRS/AAO) selected Durrie to organize the course, recruit instructors and moderate lectures.
The group of surgeons providing the lectures included physicians from Spain, Italy, Australia,and Germany, as well as the United States. The course objective was to “provide the comprehensive refractive surgeon with tips and techniques necessary to achieve optimum results with the equipment already in place.” Procedures discussed included LASIK, surface ablation, sub-Bowman’s keratomileusis (SBK), conductive keratoplasty, phakic IOLs and Presbyopia-correcting IOLs. Topics included surgical techniques, postoperative care, medications, and how to choose the best implant for each individual patient.
