Research Shows Better Results for Farsighted Patients Treated with Allegretto WavelightOVERLAND PARK, KS (November, 2007) - George O. Waring, IV, MD, ophthalmologist from Durrie Vision in Overland Park, Kansas, presented a scientific paper at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in New Orleans last fall. The title of the paper was “Comparing Hyperopic Lasik outcomes with conventional and Wavefront-optimized ablations.” Waring, a cornea fellow for the 2007-2008 year at Durrie Vision, compared visual outcomes of hyperopia (farsighted) treatment with two different excimer lasers, the Allegretto Wavelight and the Alcon LADAR4000. Waring reported the results of a clinical trial, which concluded that patients treated with the Wavelight Allegretto wavefront optimized laser had a greater chance of reaching 20/20 vision at 1 day postop, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months than patients treated with the Alcon LADAR4000.
