What are the benefits of having LASIK as a teen?
When a young person has vision correction surgery they save thousands of dollars over their lifetime since they don't have to purchse contacts and glasses.
In addition, the risk of infection with contacts -- either from improper care or sleeping in them -- can be dramatic. Eye infections can be serious.
Young people tend to be very active. Swimming, biking and even playing recreational sports are much easier without the hassle of glasses or contacts.

A common perception among many ophthalmologists is that teens and young adults should not have refractive surgery. However, these are some of the best candidates for LASIK or other vision-correcting procedures. Because their eyes are so healthy, my staff and I have found that our younger patients achieve their targeted corrections more easily than older patients. Furthermore, a review of my practice's databases revealed that patients between the ages of 20 and 30 required the fewest postoperative enhancements.
