Marla Kennard is an optometrist whose primary role is that of Clinical Director of Research for Durrie Vision. She is responsible for the pre-and post-operative examinations conducted through clinical trials for research studies ranging from ophthalmic devices to pharmaceuticals. In addition, Dr. Kennard provides pre-operative testing for Durrie Vision's surgery patients.
Dr. Kennard received her optometric degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Mississippi State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in Psychology. Before joining Durrrie Vision, Dr. Kennard practiced at Hunkeler Eye Centers Ambulatory Surgical Center, providing pre-and post-surgical care to refractive patients. She gained further clinical experience with an internship at The Eye Institute in Memphis, where she provided contact lens, ocular disease, pediatric, nursing home and primary care. Dr. Kennard also had two externships at The Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri and at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Dr. Kennard is an active member of the Greater Kansas City Area Optometric Society.
When she is not working, Dr. Kennard enjoys spending time with her husband, Dirck, and her son, Greyson, who was born in January, 2007.
